Perspective

Perspective is a fascinating thing. Everyone has perspective and it is born from our experiences, what we have learned and what we are willing to be open minded about.

I'm inspired to write about this due to a conversation with a client last night. She wrote to her fellow canine competitors about horses having emotions. The jist of what they wrote back to her was 'sorry to tell you, there is no Santa Claus.'
Because my experience and learning, daily, is about the horse human relationship my perspective on this is considerably different. Depending on the skill and tools of communication used I have seen first hand the array of emotions and reasoning power a horse actually does have. Now I say depending on the skill and tools because the more skill the person has and the more desire to connect with this 1000 plus pound animal the more they 'see' happen. The tools are a huge consideration too. Every tool has a degree of accuracy depending on the one weilding it - how well it is understood by the receiver, the depth of understanding of the user, and a myriad of other important factors which cause it and the person to either be understood greatly or only slightly. Unfortunately as humans we do not stay focused on one particular skill long enough for it to develop to the level of 'greatly' before we decide that tool doesn't work and we are on to the next.

When asking an opinion of others we have to consider this..."We can only see what we look for."
For one who lives only in the forest, there are the beautiful trees, a little sky peeking through here and there, wonderous, lush greenery abounds and the smell of the earth is prolific. This is the world through their perspective, not wrong just what they can see.
For one who has walked through the forest in search of something they imagined was beyond and ended up at the top of a mountain, the world is all the above mentioned, and a vast view of the amazing colors and clouds that dance upon the sky, what lies beyond that mountain to another, the tops of all those trees, valleys, rivers, hills, vistas and so much more!
"Change how you see the world and the world you see changes."
